This plan resulted in a series of improvements, including spacious boulevards, streets and promenades.

 

In 1903, the town launched a motor bus company, the first of its kind. During World War II, many refugees came to Eastbourne. Around 4,000 bombs fell on Eastbourne during the war, making it the most bombed town.
