A little about Heathrow
Heathrow Airport, previously known as London Airport, is effectively the busiest air terminal in London, considering it has an inundation of around 72 million travellers every year. It has 80 working aircrafts, including national and international flights.
There are 6 different airports in London, including Heathrow. The others are Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, Southend and London City.
The history
Heathrow Airport has a history that goes back to the year 1930. Everything began with a British air specialist and aeroplane developer Richard Fairey paying £15,000 for a 150-section of a land plot. This plot was utilised to construct a private air terminal for testing and collecting aeroplanes. It was then named Fairey’s Great West Aerodrome, which then proceeded to become what we call now Heathrow International Airport.
This land was later acquired by the Government during World War II, to fabricate RAF Heston, an alternate sort of base for the troop-conveying aeroplane. As the war was finishing and the airbase was not required any longer, the proprietorship was given over to the Air Ministry as London’s first civil airport.
The first aeroplane to take off from Heathrow was Starlight, which used to be a Lancaster bomber back in the day. In the year 1966, the air terminal was named Heathrow Airport. Throughout time, Heathrow has experienced massive changes in the activities undertaken there, administrations, plans, and the number of travellers. By 2006 it had dealt with around 1 billion travellers spread over more than 14 million flights. In the year 2016, Heathrow celebrated its 70th anniversary.
