I needed a driver to pick up my daughter who was traveling from the US alone to start her semester abroad in London.  Nasser was assigned to her and she reported that it was a lovely experience. He communicated with her upon arrival at the airport, was a great conversationalist during the drive and helped her get her luggage into the dorm. The booking process was very easy too. The English town and civil parish of Glastonbury is on a dry point on the low-lying Somerset Levels, about 23 miles south of Bristol in the county of Somerset. There is evidence of Neolithic human settlement at Glastonbury from wood trackways such as the Sweet Track, which attest to the town’s long and illustrious past. Near the present-day River Brue, the Iron Age community of Glastonbury Lake Village formerly stood. Centwine, a benefactor from Saxony, increased the town’s importance by establishing Glastonbury Abbey. The abbey was the site of Edmund Ironside’s coronation as king of England in 1016 and significantly impacted Glastonbury for more than seven centuries. The abbey is imprinted on several of Glastonbury’s ancient structures, including the George Hotel and the Tribunal.

Despite its yearly location close to Pilton, the town of Glastonbury is the inspiration for the festival’s name. Originating in the Mesolithic period, when floods caused by increasing sea levels forced humans to set up temporary settlements on higher land, the area has a long history of human settlement. Glastonbury is famous for its old wooden trackways, such as the Sweet Track, which are thousands of years old.
